At Coxwell Aquatics plants and planted aquariums are one of the things that make us tick; all of our staff have planted tanks at home and can give great advice and experience on how to make a living underwater garden in your tank. Our staff can explain the benefits of plants in your tank and how they are the building blocks to a natural equilibrium, leading to better water quality and algae control. Plants will also help to create a more natural environment helping the more sensitive types of fish acclimatize more quickly and bring out breeding colours.

We stock a large range of plants; plants for the beginner such as the easy to grow varieties like vallisneria and hygrophila. There is also something for the more experienced aquarist such as the more complex and needy varieties like barclaya longifolia and riccia fluitans.
 
Unlike the majority of aquatic retailers the Coxwell Aquatics plant sales tank is set up and maintained to grow our plants not just keep them. Within a week the vallisneria and hygrophila have doubled in size. Not only does this cut down on our wastage and carbon footprint but also offers a larger more substantial plant for you. This means that we can pass on better quality and value to our customers.

To compliment our selection of plants we stock everything you require to own a successful planted tank. A large range of fertilizers is available to feed your plants from slow release root tablets to daily liquid applications of trace elements, CO₂(carbon dioxide) is something we think is essential to a great planted tank. We have both biological and pressurised CO₂units which can be purchased as complete kits or individual parts to suit your needs; we also have CO₂ and pH controllers if you want to make things easier to manage. In addition to fertilizers and CO₂,adequate lighting is essential for optimal plant growth. Coxwell Aquatics also stock a large selection of full spectrum T5 and T8 fluorescent lamps and compact hang on units for the pico or nano aquariums. We can supply everything you need and if we happen to not have what you desire at the time we will do our very best to order it in.

Our Display Aquaria are examples of regions throughout the world with the odd exception like our novelty Sponge Bob square pants tank. These tanks are all planted to show examples of setups achievable with different management and equipment levels. Hopefully they will inspire you to setup a planted tank in your home.
